Loreto Bay Real Estate Update      It is good to be back in Loreto ... always feels like I am returning home! The cold spell has broken and now temperatures are 70F bright and sunny.    Loreto did get some rain in January which turned the mountains   into green landscapes.   Now i t is endless blue skies, lush tropical backdrops and gardens everywhere.       There is a definite increase in real estate this season.   Many people who have been coming to visit for several years are now ready to make the commitment of buying.   Also first time visitors are loving this place and want to come back to rent and decide which area and home they want to vacation.  Great News for All! Nellie’s Back in Loreto, Baja California Sur Time flies when you are having fun … and what a nice summer this has been. I spent much time away from Loreto visiting friends in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, and Halifax. I had vacations in Seattle, San Diego and New York and now feeling rested and with some semblance of balance in a place where time seems to stand still … Loreto. I brought a 1998 Dodge Durango from my friend Albert Basil, who owns AJ Motors in Los Angeles. I gave the specifications of what I wanted (model, year, color, fabric type, a/c, 4x, miles, and other options) and he found the car at the auction. He drove the car for a month and replaced all the parts that he thought would be necessary so I could have a good safe Baja car. This included a new axle, tires, brakes, steam cleaning the engine, and a brand new radio for my long drive down Baja. The price was great and I feel very confident that the car is in good condition to last me a couple of years of hard off...

Whales Inn Demolition Begins Demolition has started at the Whales Inn and it is coming down fast! They already have their plans for luxury condos approved and are well underway in the process to start construction next year. Last month the Whales Inn was having one huge Garage Sale! Locals were lined up with thousands of pesos in hand to take away a little of history. You could buy the entire hotel room – furniture, TVs, toilets, doors – all you could take out and carry, for one reasonable price. Many of the best rustic and large ornate pieces were donated to the University, the Municipal Offices, and churches. Charity starts at home and the developers of Loreto are setting an outstanding example. This playground downtown was nothing more than a dirt patch two years ago. Loreto Bay generously donated the steel shade structure and cupola. The Whales Inn and Ecoscapes will be jointly donating the grass plus 20 palm trees to add the final touches to a beautiful safe place for Loret...
